We are seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to join our team in Shenzhen, China. The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing packaging solutions for our consumer electronics and accessories. The ideal candidate will ensure that packaging meets functional, aesthetic, sustainability, and cost requirements while aligning with global branding standards and compliance regulations.
What you will be doing:
- Design and develop packaging for new and existing products, including retail boxes, inner trays, inserts, and shipping cartons.
- Collaborate with product, design, sourcing, operations (supply chain logistics) and quality assurance teams to define packaging requirements and ensure feasibility.
- Conduct packaging material selection, cost analysis, and sustainability assessments.
- Work with suppliers to prototype, test, and validate packaging solutions.
- Manage packaging timelines to meet product launch schedules.
- Ensure packaging designs comply with international shipping and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including packaging cost reduction, overall transportation cost reduction (reduce volume), performance optimization, and environmental impact.
- Conduct transit testing, drop testing, and material performance evaluations.
- Maintain and update packaging documentation, drawings, and specifications.
- Travel to supplier factories as needed for production support, audits, and quality checks, including artwork & color proofing
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging design, preferably in consumer electronics, retail products, or a similar industry.
- Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Familiarity with packaging materials (corrugated, plastics, foams, etc.) and sustainable packaging practices.
- Proficient in design software such as ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of international packaging standards and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with global teams and international brands.
- Knowledge of packaging compliance in major markets (US, EU, etc.).
- Experience with automation and packaging efficiency tools.
Work Environment & Travel:
- Office and factory environment.
- Occasional travel to manufacturing partners and vendors across China.
Compensation: Salary based on experience.
