The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing end-to-end supplier quality systems, driving quality control processes from supplier development to product delivery, and ensuring components, materials, and services meet quality standards and customer requirements. Key responsibilities include leading supplier audits, APQP implementation, Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI), and proficient use of testing equipment for quality validation to continuously enhance supply chain performance.
What you will be doing:
- Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and factory audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems, production capacity, and technical capabilities.
- Develop and implement Supplier Quality Agreements (SQA) and performance metrics (e.g., DPPM, OTD), analyzing data to drive improvements.
- Full-Process Quality Control: Establish standardized inspection processes for Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), and Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI), ensuring strict execution.
- Drive APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) for suppliers, including participation in new product design reviews, PPAP documentation approval, and pre-production risk mitigation.
- Proficiently operate testing equipment (e.g., CMM, tensile testers, spectrometers) to conduct product reliability validation and failure analysis at supplier sites.
- Lead root cause analysis (e.g., 8D/5Why) for supplier quality issues, implement CAPA closure, and reduce recurring defects.
- Develop supplier risk matrices and contingency plans for high-risk suppliers to ensure supply chain continuity.
- Provide quality management training to suppliers, promoting the adoption of SPC, MSA, and other statistical tools.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical/Electrical/Materials Engineering or related fields.
- 5+ years of supplier quality management experience in manufacturing (preferred industries: consumer electronics).
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards; Internal Auditor Certification (e.g., CQA) is a plus.
- Proficient in APQP/PPAP/FMEA/SPC core tools, with proven experience in successful New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Extensive experience in factory audits, including familiarity with social compliance (e.g., SA8000) and environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
- Skilled in operating testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, hardness testers) and basic data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab/JMP).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with cross-functional collaboration and supplier negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently (for onsite supplier audits and issue resolution).
- Proficiency in English (for reviewing technical documents and liaising with overseas suppliers).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CQE/CSQP/CQA.
- Experience in multinational supply chain management or automotive industries.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
